Halcrow built on previous successes at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) awards when it scooped a 'highly commended' accolade in the commercial and business services sector category.

The announcement was made on 24 September at the award event in Glasgow, which honoured the best of 1700 entries in 21 individual industry sectors. These included construction, healthcare, transport and logistics, engineering, manufacturing and education.

RoSPA awards manager Dave Rawlins said “Halcrow has shown a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its employees and others.”

Group health and safety director Nigel Valvona said: “It is fantastic to have exceeded our success of last year. The award is testament to the efforts of the business.

The improvements made are clearly demonstrated by this award, and also by our recent OHSAS18001 accreditation. I feel this achievement is a result of employees truly taking on board Halcrow’s core safety values."
