Halcrow Yolles’s Neil Currie won the Engineering Ambassador Award at the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) Engineering Excellence Awards last week.

The awards recognise ACE-member-company projects and people that demonstrate a high degree of achievement, value and engineering excellence.

The Engineering Ambassador Award is a specialised award that recognises and celebrates an individual who has made a significant contribution to raising the profile of consultancy and engineering.

Neil received his award from broadcaster Nicky Campbell at the ACE Engineering Excellence dinner at the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel in London on Wednesday evening. Commenting on his win, Neil said:

“I am thrilled to have won this award. Not only is it a great personal achievement but it also highlights the talented people I work with and the great work Halcrow Yolles is recognised for”.

Based in Manchester, Neil is a technical manager responsible for the development of innovative engineering solutions within Halcrow Yolles. These are shared with teams worldwide, through the company’s intranet, lunchtime seminars and presentations.

David Kerr, Halcrow group board director, commented:

“Neil is very much a prime example of the model Halcrow employee and genuinely lives our purpose of sustaining and improving the quality of people’s lives. In this respect he is a true ambassador for the company”.

Neil promotes innovation and integrates technical excellence into the projects that he works on. His passion for engineering is evidenced by his many award-winning projects and ongoing client praise and appreciation.

Practised in communicating engineering principles in simple and clear English, he is a regular after-dinner speaker and recently presented at the Imperial College on engineering simplicity. Neil also actively promotes the IstructE, for which he is a company mentor and a volunteer interviewer
