Halcrow yet again demonstrated why it is one of the top consultants in flood and coastal risk management

August 2009

The 44th annual Defra and Environment Agency Flood and Coastal Risk Management conference, a leading event in this field, took place 30 June to 2 July, and Halcrow was there to showcase its expertise.

Held at the Telford International Centre, UK, the conference brought together over 400 experts and practitioners to share policy developments, research results and practical solutions in the management of river and coastal flood risks and coastal erosion.

Halcrow was able to demonstrate its diverse and innovative work in the flood and coastal risk management field. This experience was reflected in the three poster presentations and twelve papers presented covering a diverse range of subjects including flood incident management, urban drainage, coastal erosion risk mapping, and wetland habitat creation.

With sustainability and innovation at the heart of Halcrow’s message, visitors to the company’s exhibit were given company information saved on re-usable USB sticks produced from recycled plastic; a change from the usual printed leaflets and brochures.

Paul Turney, Halcrow’s Environment Agency client account team director commented: “Halcrow yet again demonstrated why it is one of the top consultants in flood and coastal risk management. The combination of a well thought-out stand and a significant number of high quality papers, posters and presentations given by our experts demonstrated the true depth and diversity of Halcrow’s skills in this field.”
