The £200m project will reclaim the former College Goods Railway Yard, a huge area of derelict land in the city centre

February 2010

Halcrow Yolles is playing a leading role in what is believed to be the UK’s largest new-start regeneration project in 2009 / 2010 - the Collegelands project in Glasgow.

As construction schemes around the country stall, Glasgow City Council and Dawn Group, in joint venture with Chiltern Group, are forging ahead with their plan to create the 1,100,000 sq ft mixed-use Collegelands quarter east of the city centre. The £200m project will reclaim the former College Goods Railway Yard, a huge area of derelict land in the city centre that has lain vacant for more than 25 years. Work has begun on Phase One of the new development, the first in the district for several decades, which includes office space, a Ramada Encore hotel, student accommodation units and a 1,100-space multi-storey car park.

The firm is providing civil and structural engineering services for the office development, the car park and the site infrastructure works.
