Halcrow successfully designed and ran two workshops on UK business models and the importance of close client relationships in maintenance contracts at a conference in Utrecht recently.
The Partner Programme for Infrastructure Management (PIM) conference focuses on international best practice and is run by Rijkswaterstaat, the Dutch national body responsible for roads and waterways. This year’s conference was attended by 300 infrastructure professionals.
Both workshops were designed by Halcrow's marketing manager Europe, Ben Sheppard, and his colleagues, and began with short presentations on strategic partnerships
Andy Jamieson, the managing director of Aone+, told workshop delegates from the public and private sector how strong links between the managing agent contractor and the Highways Agency played a vital part in helping to deliver successful projects.
In the second workshop, regional director Donald Bell gave a joint presentation with Transport Scotland’s Head of Asset Management, Donald Morrison, on the importance of developing strategic relationships. This looked at how Transport Scotland and Halcrow had worked with the trunk road maintenance operating companies since 1995 to deliver sustainable improvements in service as part of the Performance Audit Group project.
A senior adviser at Rijkswaterstaat, Leon Hombergen, said : “The Halcrow team listened really well to our needs and goals during the preparations and helped us in formulating a suitable approach. The introductions were both informative and energetic. This ensured that the workshops were really successful and a follow up will take place."
