Halcrow has recently played a pivotal role in the World Economic Forum’s water initiative by collaborating on the development of the innovative water partnerships report.
The World Economic Forum’s water initiative pursues water partnership projects globally, with recent examples in India, southern Africa and Jordan. It creates partnerships between governments, development agencies, non-government organisations, industry partners and foundation member companies that help its stakeholders increase the water-related projects in the region that help meet the needs of society, industry and the environment.
The publication provides some details on the work so far, its impacts and lessons learned. It makes recommendations for the best way to spread success and increase the number of people the programme benefits, to move from awareness to action.
As part of Halcrow’s global water security strategy, the company became industry partner of the World Economic Forum in 2009.
Bryan Harvey, strategy and development director for Halcrow’s water and power business, said: “With World Water Day fast approaching – 22 March – it provides us with a stark reminder of the challenges we face across the globe as the drivers of water scarcity grow daily and affect millions of people around the world.”
