Our submission was only possible with contributions from a significant number of Halcrow people across the business

Halcrow’s ongoing efforts to be recognised as a responsible business have been recognised with an award from acknowledged UK standard of excellence, the Corporate Responsibility Index (CRI).

In only our second submission, the company achieved a bronze award and a total score of 76.8 per cent for 2009 for our UK operations – beating our 2008 total of 59.5 per cent.

The index is managed by independent business led charity Business in the Community. As the leading voluntary benchmark for corporate responsibility, the CRI helps companies manage, measure and report on how they impact on society and the environment. Halcrow was one of the top improvers on the CRI this year, reflecting the significant efforts that have been made by many people across the group.

Halcrow will be using the CRI process to help drive continuous improvement, in terms of what we do and how we do it, relevant to our sustainability agenda. This will help us meet our objective to be widely recognised by clients and business partners as being a responsible business. In the future, we hope to be able to extend the assessment to include our global operations, as we extend our sustainability performance management processes.

Group board director Neil Holt said: "Our submission was only possible with contributions from a significant number of Halcrow people across the business and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in helping us to achieve this award, either through their actions or inputs to the submission."
