March 2010

Halcrow has successfully delivered a major commission to develop flood forecasting models for the North East of Scotland for the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

The commission formed a core component of SEPA’s high profile £1 million North East Flood Warning Scheme (NEFWS). This was officially launched on Tuesday 2 March by the Scottish Cabinet Secretary, Richard Lochhead.

The scheme is designed to provide timely predicted flood warnings to the appropriate police forces and local authorities. They will also be made available on Floodline (0845 988 1188) and www.sepa.org.uk/flooding  for communities along the Rivers Dee, Don, Deveron and North Esk.

Its early launch has attracted considerable interest from the press including the BBC and STV.

Halcrow has been a lead provider of flood forecasting solutions to SEPA having supported SEPA in the development of flood forecasting models for large areas of Scotland.
