Halcrow has been awarded a new gender equality award by the UK Resource Centre for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology (UKRC).
Known as the SET Fair Standard, the awards were launched in November as part of the UKRC’s portfolio of services aimed at promoting and ensuring the inclusion of women across the science, engineering and technology (SET) sectors.
Awarded at three levels – committed, achieving and outstanding – the SET Fair Standard is customised for:
- corporates and large organisations
- small and medium sized organisations
- professional institutions
- research facilities and councils
- employer members organisations
- colleges and places of further education
The Standard enables businesses to recognise and celebrate progress in developing inclusive workplaces where women have been underrepresented for decades.
The crystal award was presented to Halcrow last week at the Royal Academy of Engineering in London.
Annette Williams, Director of the UKRC commented:
“The Set Fair Standard is a quality mark that is recognised both externally and internally and clearly demonstrates that gender equality needs to be taken seriously. By achieving the Standard, organisations are able to build their reputation as an employer of choice for scientists, engineers and technologists, as well as increasing success in meeting equality procurement requirements. Businesses and organisations operating across the SET sectors should contact the UKRC to find out about how the SET Fair Standard can help them achieve gender equality.”
