Halcrow announces the addition of two industry veterans to its growing rail operation in the United States. The firm welcomes senior project managers, Carl F. Morey, PE, based in New York and Leslie (Les) Durrant, PE, based in Long Beach, CA. Both will work to further enhance Halcrow’s growth in the rail market sector across the US.
"We are excited to have Carl and Les on board, bringing over 60 years' of solid rail sector experience to our growing team," stated Steve Lee, US rail practice leader.
Carl joins Halcrow with 30 years of experience in transportation and facilities engineering with an emphasis on systems design and the construction of freight, commuter rail, light rail and high speed passenger rail facilities and systems. His most immediate role will be to serve as project manager for Halcrow’s Charlotte Area Transit System’s (CATS) Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Project Management Oversight Consultant (PMOC) contract. This new LRT rail line will extend from the city center to the University of North Carolina-Charlotte campus.
Before joining Halcrow, Carl worked as a consultant for several public transportation agencies in senior positions, including, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, New Jersey Transit, Amtrak, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, Fort Worth Transportation Authority, St. Lawrence Seaway Authority, New York City’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Florida Tri-County Commuter Rail Authority as well as several state Department of Transportation (DOT) agencies and Conrail.
Les comes on board with 30 years of experience in planning, design, construction and equipment commissioning of rail vehicles, systems and facilities. Les will join Halcrow teams working on the high-profile Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Public-Private Partnerships advisory contract and various assignments for the firm’s FTA PMOC contract.
Prior to joining Halcrow, Les worked for several public transportation agencies in senior positions, including, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority; Hampton Roads Transit, VA; Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority, DC; Sound Transit, WA; and London Transport, UK. Les also worked for the consulting firm Parsons Transportation in Atlanta and London.
