July 2011
The 2011 ISIS User Conference has been held at Halcrow's headquarters in London.
ISIS provides engineers, environmental scientists, planners and managers with a flexible and cost-effective range of tools for proactive decision making to help manage our environment. It is a suite of modular software solutions used for simulating water flow, hydrology, water quality changes and sediment transport in rivers, floodplains, canals, estuaries, catchments and urban areas.
The annual conference attracted attendees from local authorities, drainage boards, universities, engineering consultants, British Waterways and the Environment Agency.
The conference included popular and informative sessions that were independently chaired by Chris Whitlow from Edenvale Young Associates. It provided the opportunity to learn from the experiences of other modellers who presented case studies, network with fellow modellers in the industry and help direct the future development of ISIS.
Attendees had the opportunity to listen to a number of expert guest speakers from Halcrow, The Environment Agency, British Waterways, Capita Symonds, Black & Veatch, Thomas Mackay, Hyder Consulting and Edenvale Young Associates.
The conference gave ISIS users the opportunity to provide feedback on how the software could be developed. For any further suggestions following the conference, users are able to visit the Ideas Lab on the ISIS user website. A list of ideas that were recommended during the conference have also been uploaded to the Ideas Lab on isisuser.com, giving the opportunity to vote on suggestions for future releases of ISIS.
The conference presentations can be viewed on the ISIS user community website, which now has 5,000 members.
