Halcrow’s global director for urban water, Michael Norton, has been made chair of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) water expert panel.
The ICE expert panels act as a focus for the various areas of civil engineering. They enable the ICE to respond to consultations and bills, produce papers and guidance on best practice, influence government policy and hold conferences and debates. They form the backbone of the institution’s status as a learned society.
Michael said “I joined the ICE as a graduate member in 1973 and have always been proud to say that I am a civil engineer. To be asked to chair the water expert panel of ICE is a great honour. I am very much looking forward to grasping the opportunity that the panel has to influence water engineering and management at a time when water is seen to be playing an ever more vital role in social, economic and environmental health.”
