Halcrow’s involvement provided an opportunity to further boost the company’s market profile in Poland.

Halcrow displayed a strong presence at the annual Polish Infrastructure conference, held in Warsaw on 26 January.

Halcrow directors Rafal Szwedowski (roads) and Krzysztof Celiński (rail) took part in the opening panel discussion before each delivered a presentation as part of the later themed sessions. As well as helping to organise the event, the company was a gold supporting partner.

Attracting some 150 delegates, the conference focused on a variety of infrastructure-related issues, from financing and investment to contracts and technical standards. Discussion also hinged on changes to state expenditure budgets.

Rafal, who leads Halcrow’s Polish roads business, shared the company’s experiences as a contract engineer as part of a panel discussion on universal standard contracts. The following session saw Krzysztof tackle the issue of underinvestment in rail infrastructure. Assessing the current situation and future modernisation plans, he clearly outlined the risks associated with delaying implementation.

This leading national event is an ideal forum to meet representatives from contractors, competitors and public institutions such as the General Directorate of Roads and Office of Public Procurement. Halcrow’s involvement provided an opportunity to further boost the company’s market profile in Poland.
