Halcrow has been asked to take a leading role at a reception in the Scottish Parliament hosted by the Scottish Research Centre for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology.
The event on Thursday 17 June marks the success of the Centre’s first year and thanks those who have contributed throughout. Donald Bell regional director for Glasgow will contribute to a panel discussion on “Does Sex Matter Any More? Gender segregation at work”. The event will be attended by Jim Mather MSP, Scottish Government Minister for Enterprise, Energy & Tourism and Anne Glover, the Government’s Chief Scientific Adviser.
“Halcrow has provided significant assistance”, commented Jenny Tizard, the Centre’s manager. “The diversity and equality video shot in the Glasgow office has been highly rated by students in colleges and universities. It helps to bring the discussions about diversity into a workplace focus. In addition, talks by Jet Cameron and Lesley Dunne over the past year to students and professionals have been very well received”.
“We are delighted to support the Centre and this event” commented Donald Bell. “Halcrow fully supports equality and diversity in the workplace and we encourage all our staff to reach their potential”.
The Centre works to create sustainable change for the participation of women in science, engineering, technology and built environment sectors in Scotland. This is through changing employment practices and workplace cultures, as well as and supporting the recruitment, retention, and success of women where they are significantly under-represented
