A Halcrow-led due diligence exercise helped this major airport sale proceed smoothly, with the prospective buyer able to make a fully-informed decision.
With client Babcock & Brown seeking to purchase a 48 per cent stake in Birmingham Airport, UK, Halcrow provided expert advice on demand, airport infrastructure, and capacity and investment needs, along with airport economics and operations.
Forecasting future operating and capital costs over the next 20 years, we provided the client with an accurate assessment of its prospective investment to minimise financial and legal risk. We produced three scenarios, taking into account a range of demand levels, enabling Babcock & Brown to proceed with a greater degree of certainty and the confidence to make a competitive offer.
Halcrow also reviewed the projected capital expenditure required to upgrade terminal, airside and landside infrastructure – identifying areas for future savings – and developed a phased investment plan for implementation over the next two decades.
