Halcrow produced a 20 year master plan and feasibility study designed to improve access in Dolj County and support overall economic development

As part of its development strategy for the city of Craiova, the Client commisioned Halcrow to produce a master plan and feasibility studies for Craiova airport and its surrounding areas, compatible with improvements to the local road and rail network.

The aim is to improve airport facilities and attract investors to the area by identifying land for business parks and industrial development.

Key features of the 20 year master plan included demand forecasting, capacity assessment, land use and ownership, environmental assessment and the assessment of existing facilities and functions, including condition and level of service.

The feasibility studies included structural scheme design of the various airport facilities including the 10,200m2 passenger terminal building, crash fire rescue building and ATC Tower, MEP and utilities, economic viability assessment and environmental impacts identification and mitigation analysis. Halcrow also produced a 3D animation of the proposed new Craiova Airport.
