Halcrow have undertaken a number of planning and capacity studies for Aéroport International de Genève (AIG).
The airport has had to adapt to the new environment it operates in, including the demise of the flag carrier and subsequent substantial growth of the base low cost carrier, as well as providing for the ever increasing demands of the winter sports traffic and introduction of Schengen in early 2009.
Halcrow was commissioned by Aéroport International de Genève (AIG) to undertake a masterplan in 2003 to define future requirements for terminal functions, check-in facilities, baggage system, immigration and security control points.
In 2006 Halcrow were commissioned to re-visit the master plan to reassess continuing airside and landside development needs, with consideration given to the implications of Switzerland entering the Schengen Agreement in 2009.
In 2007 Halcrow was commissioned by the airport to help plan the use of its new check-in extension, known as T1+, and the layout and requirements for the proposed one-stop centralised security facility using our simulation modelling software, ARCport.
Benefits to Client:
- Defining options for development given the complex nature and intense utilisation of airside facilities
- Evaluation of terminal development options including existing and new infrastructure
- Consideration of new processing technology such as the implication of self service and internet check-in
- Optimising check-in capacity through simulation analysis to evaluate which airline/s would make best use of T1+
- On-site data collection to accurately model the security process and passenger behaviour
- Modelling of new security processing to define requirements for a centralised facility
