Halcrow helped to identify measures that would reduce the environmental impact of widening one of Poland’s busiest roads

Halcrow has had a presence in Poland since the early 1990s and has worked on a wide range of projects and programmes. In 2008 we undertook an environmental impact statement on the proposed upgrade of the 180km Goleniow-Slupsk section of National Road No 6 to an expressway.

The road is the most important route through Pomerania and forms part of the transport corridor which links the cities of northern Poland with Western Europe and Lithuania.

National Road No 6 borders two nature reserves and runs through a number of Natura 2000-designated sites of special environmental interest including bog woodland and coastal habitats. The EIA studied the likely effects of the project and identified actions that will reduce the impact on communities, flora and fauna and climate and landscape.
