Role: Structural engineering services
Halcrow Yolles provided structural engineering services for the Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas, a mixed-use building prominently situated at the entrance of CityCenter, the largest, most significant privately funded project in the United States, and one of the world’s largest green developments.
The 47-storey LEED®-Gold certified Mandarin Oriental houses 227 condominium residences and a spa in addition to a non-gaming hotel with 392 guestrooms and suites. Guests are welcomed by an impressive 12,000 square foot Sky Lobby located on the 23rd floor, which provides stunning, glittering views of the city. Other amenities at the world-class Mandarin Oriental include an exclusive outdoor swimming pool with sun deck, and six restaurants and bars, featuring Twist by Pierre Gagnaire.
Halcrow Yolles helped to meet this project’s aggressive construction schedule through quick response times, the early identification of risk items, and a fast-tracked delivery with phase tendering and permitting process. We provided innovative structural solutions during design development to accommodate architectural programme changes and made possible the many distinct architectural features of the Sky Lobby, such as its suspended glass wine cellar and its acoustical separation from the storeys above and below it.
Designed by Kohn Pederson Fox, and Adamson Architects, this sanctuary of elegance is in keeping with the internationally-renowned Mandarin brand.
