Ransome Road is one of three sites which, together, make up the Northampton Brownfield Initiative.
The Ransome Road master plan has been designed to guide the development of a new, 800-unit residential community. Having developed the overall master plan and site remediation strategy, the Halcrow Team has prepared the Development Framework and Design and Access Statement which will guide construction of the scheme over several years of development.
The plan was developed in response to two major design criteria: remediation of the former landfill operation, which covers approximately one-third of the site, and the opportunity to physically and visually link the new community to Delapre Park to the south.
The site responds to the need for flexibility over time by establishing a plan containing high quality public realm, including two new bridges and 3 groups of public spaces, that define plots which will be taken forward by individual developers. Within this framework a variety of townhomes and apartment buildings will be constructed.
