An arterial route in north-eastern Poland is being upgraded to an expressway, representing an integral step in the country’s ongoing development.
In 2008, Halcrow’s Polish team won a contract to prepare and manage the implementation of the design and build scheme. Connecting Jeżewo and Białystok, the 24.5km section is part of a wider strategic link between the cities of Wroclaw, Lódź, Warsaw and Bialystok.
Halcrow’s role includes tender preparation and procurement as well as contract and construction supervision. The project is expected to be completed before its 72-month schedule.
Applying its specialist knowledge of road engineering and consulting skills, the Halcrow team will work closely with public stakeholders to deliver the project, as well as being responsible for subcontractors’ input.
Set to reduce journey times and improve travelling conditions, this essential upgrade will ease the movement of freight and people between Poland’s urban centres.
