This 15,799m² research facility accommodates extensive resources including cutting-edge teaching laboratories for pharmacy practice and pharmaceutics; lecture theatres with 21st century communications capabilities; interactive learning and presentation technology; research facilities for basic science, pharmacy practice and social and administrative pharmacy; ample facilities for individual and small-group study; and common areas for faculty and student interaction.
The lower part of the building, including the main floor, is clad in glass, allowing passers-by to see activity within, and those inside to see the adjacent courtyards and heritage buildings.
The undergraduate areas, including lecture halls and the Apotex Resource Centre, are near the main floor, so that they are readily accessible to the large student population. Research takes place chiefly in the upper floors.
This landmark project features two silver-coloured pods which appear to be suspended in mid-air. The larger and lower pod houses a 60-seat lecture theatre and reading room. The higher pod houses a smaller classroom and faculty lounge.
