A wide-ranging programme of modernisation and construction has created a high quality water treatment service for Starachowice and its surrounding communes in South East Poland.
Halcrow provided contract engineer services for four stages of the programme which began in 2006. As well as technological assessment of the contractors’ proposals, we ensured that its administration met the needs of the European Cohesion Fund Project which financed the works.
Key works include the modernisation and development of Starachowice’s wastewater treatment plant and the modernisation of the water treatment and pumping facilities in neighbouring Majowka.
New water mains and sewerage pipes to neighbouring communes will ensure that people living throughout the district share in the benefit of the investment.
Starachowice is a special economic zone and the improved infrastructure will give a valuable boost to the local economy which is trying to attract new industry.
Halcrow provided services in the following stages:
- detailed design review
- verification and approval
- works supervision
- reporting
- financial management
