The UK accounts for around half of Halcrow’s global business portfolio, with a significant proportion of that in England.
We develop long-term relationships with local authorities, regional development agencies, government bodies and the private sector to help them deliver reliable, cost-effective and innovative services.
In London, we’re playing a leading role on a number of the capital’s highest profile transportation projects, including Crossrail, Tottenham Court Road Station’s redevelopment and London Underground’s Northern Line extension.
We’re also involved in the construction programme for the 2012 Olympic Games and we’re playing a leading role in Thames Water’s London Tideway Tunnels project, which includes the construction of the city’s deepest tunnel.
To the north of the country and in the Midlands, we’re responsible for the day-to-day operational management and maintenance of the motorway and trunk road network. Our joint venture with Colas and Costain, A-one+, is the managing agent contractor for the Highways Agency, covering a third of England’s road network.
Across the country, we work with organisations like the Environment Agency and British Waterways to help protect homes and businesses from flooding and the effects of coastal erosion. We also work with water companies and regulators to secure a safe, reliable water supply.
And this is just a snapshot of what we do. Much of the country’s infrastructure has benefited from our expertise, including buildings, ports, roads, railways, water systems, public transport and power stations.
