2009 - Civil Engineering Environmental Quality Assessment and Award scheme Whole Project Award

The Cross Valley link road and Upton flood attenuation scheme

The CEEQUAL Whole Project Award evaluates environmental performance from project inception through to construction completion.

The project connects residential and commercial land being developed on either side of the River Nene floodplain. The project contributes to the regeneration aspirations of client the Homes and Communities Agency.

 
2009 - Thames Valley Engineering Excellence Awards - the environmental project category

Lambourne River

River Lambourn Restoration

Halcrow’s River Lambourn Restoration in Newbury won the category, with the Grafton Lock Refurbishment in Lechlade, Highly Commended.

The awards recognise excellence in civil engineering projects completed in the last year that reflects the ICE’s global vision of: “Civil engineers at the heart of society, delivering sustainable development through knowledge, skills and professional expertise”. Judgements on engineering excellence were based on criteria such as creativity and innovation, sustainability and environmental sensitivity and benefits to the client and wider public.

 
2008 - Thomas Brassey Awards - Project Regeneration Category

Rochester Riverside

Rochester Riverside Development, UK

A sustainable mixed use development comprising of approximately 1800 homes, a school, other community facilities, offices and hotels.

This project involved the remediation of a contaminated former gasworks site, replacement of 2.5km of river wall and the land raising of existing ground levels using river-borne sea dredged sand to form a suitable development platform.
