John Ballantyne
For over 25 years John Ballantyne has taken a leading role in the development of Halcrow’s nuclear business. With over 40 years’ experience, he is a leading authority on the design substantiation of nuclear structures, with particular expertise in seismic structural engineering analysis and design of new and existing structures.
Many nuclear industry clients, including AWE Aldermaston, EDF Energy and Babcock Marine recognise John’s expertise.
John is a Member of the Nuclear Institute and has published and presented a number of papers on the seismic design of nuclear structures. He has appeared as an expert witness in Australia and worked on projects in Norway and Sri Lanka.
John has specialist expertise in designing hydropower structures, especially high-pressure concrete and steel tunnel linings. He also has specialist experience in leading value management, value engineering and optioneering workshops.
