awards   The Governor General's medal in architecture

Erindale Hall at the University of Toronto at Mississauga (UTM) has received The Governor General’s Medal in Architecture presented by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) and the Canada Council for the Arts.

Halcrow Yolles provided full structural engineering services for the 7,278m², 200 bed student residence.

Angus Glen community centre and library has received a Wood Design award in the Large Institutional (greater than $10 million) category at the 2006 Wood WORKS! awards.

Halcrow Yolles provided full structural engineering services for this multi-purpose 20,000m² athletic and community centre.

The Arts and Administration building at the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus has received the User-Friendly Urban Design Award at the 2nd Annual Outside the Box competition.

Halcrow Yolles provided full structural engineering services for this $13 million 4 storey, 5,000m² arts classroom and administration building.

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) and Durham College new campus library has received an Honourable Mention in the Architecturally Innovative Building category at the at the 2nd Annual Outside the Box competition.

Halcrow Yolles provided full structural engineering services for the $22 million four storey, 6,800m² Campus Library – a shared building between UOIT and Durham College.

The St. Mary’s General Hospital emergency department expansion project in Kitchener, Canada, has received the Grand Valley Construction Association’s Building Excellence award in the institutional over $10 million category.

Halcrow Yolles provided full structural engineering services for the expansion of the emergency department which supports future phases of the redevelopment project.

Canada’s National Ballet School’s ‘Project Grand Jeté Stage 1: Jarvis Street Campus’ continues to be recognised for design excellence.

The project received the 'Best of the Best Award for Project Achievement in the Large Project category’ by the Toronto Construction Association.

Halcrow Yolles provided full structural engineering services for the major expansion and renovation of this art dance training and academic facility designed jointly by Kuwabara Payne Mckenna Blumberg Architects and Goldsmith Borgal &Company Ltd.

awards   Visitors Centre at Blaise Castle Estate wins RIBA award

The Visitors’ Centre at Blaise Castle Estate in Bristol is the recipient of a RIBA (Wessex region) Town and Country Planning and Design award from the Royal Institute of Architects.

Halcrow Yolles provided mechanical, electrical and public health services design for the project.

Designed by the CODA architects, the project converts a former cow byre into an estates office. In addition a café has been created featuring a water wall and poetic texts.

   

awards   The University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan School of pharmacy receives Ontario Steel Design Award.

The University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan School of Pharmacy has received the 2006 Ontario Steel Design Award in the Engineering category.

Halcrow Yolles provided full structural engineering services for this 15,799 m², 12 storey facility which accommodates teaching laboratories, lecture theatres and research facilities.

The dramatic five storey light-filled glass atrium features two silver-coloured pods, holding lecture halls and assembly space, which are suspended in mid-air by steel rods using innovative engineering techniques and structural steel.

   

awards   Panasonic Theatre, Toronto wins ‘Best of the Best’ award

The Panasonic Theatre in Toronto has been awarded a ‘Best of the Best’ award by the Toronto Construction Association.

Halcrow Yolles provided full structural engineering services for this $8.7million cdn revitalisation project.

   

awards   Sentinel Office Development, Glasgow has received a 2005 RIBA Award from the Royal Institute of Architects.

Halcrow Yolles provided civil and structural engineering services for the ten-storey development which marks the gateway to the City’s financial services district.

Designed by GM+AD Architects, the 85,000 sq ft of office space reached completion in March and is now ready for occupation. Project challenges successfully solved by the Halcrow Yolles team included column free floor plates and 6m cantilevers.

   

awards   Institution of Highways and Transportation (IHT) Award for Innovation - M60 widening, Manchester, UK

On 16 May, Halcrow's work on the M60 widening project was recognised with an Institution of Highways and Transportation (IHT) Award for Innovation, given for 'innovative problem-solving within the highways and transportation industry'.
