Halcrow Foundation
In early 2005 Halcrow launched an appeal for funds to help the victims of the south-east Asia tsunami. The response was immediate and passionate. Across the world, Halcrow people came up with imaginative ways to raise funds, raising just under £38,000, which the company matched.
The response was so enthusiastic that Halcrow’s board of directors decided to set up a foundation to mobilise the goodwill and expertise of Halcrow employees, bringing tangible and sustainable improvements to the lives of people in need.
As part of its ongoing commitment to the foundation, Halcrow has pledged to donate to it half a per cent of each year’s profits. In 2006 this is more than £40,000. The company is also supporting the foundation by contributing resources and employee time. The foundation continues to accept donations from employees and in due course anyone will be able to support its activities. The Halcrow Foundation is now in the final stages of gaining charitable status.
The foundation's work aims to alleviate hardship, poverty and suffering among the peoples of the world. This includes the provision of financial assistance, skills and expertise, training and practical support for the development of infrastructure, the education of people and livelihood development projects. In particular, the foundation will support projects that bring sustainable improvements to people’s lives and is looking to develop long-term relationships with communities around the world.
