Tunnels - structural engineers, Melbourne, Australia - ref: TMSE
The Transportation group is currently seeking bright, enthusiastic structural engineers to join our ever expanding tunnelling team in the cosmopolitan hub of Australia - Melbourne. As some of you may be aware Melbourne is renowned for its dining and cultural entertainment, not to mention having the lifestyle of sun, sea, surf, ski and mountain biking for the outdoor enthusiasts.
The rewarding element of these positions on offer is the fact that you will be joining teams undertaking the structural analysis and design of projects in Australia and potentially elsewhere within the region. Your mentoring skills will also be developed through imparting your technical know how to assist our graduate/junior engineers and technicians. To whet your appetite and to give you a flavour for our projects, one of our most recent and exciting projects started is the Bogong Hydropower Development, huge buried underground power station, 5km of rock tunnels and shafts, just a stones throw from the Melbourne ski fields!
To be successful in this position, you will have rapidly developing experience of design in concrete and steel, and will have started to accumulate experience of and a passion for heavy civil engineering design including tunnels, shafts, piles, retaining walls etc.
It would be desirable for candidates to have experience of working with contractor clients (preferably on design and build projects) and be progressing towards MICE or MIStructE status with a degree in structural or civil engineering.
Your flexibility, exceptional work ethic, excellent communication skills and positive attitude towards clients and colleagues is paramount. As is your inherent quality of being a self starter who thrives in a team environment.
