Project manager, water and power, Katowice, Poland, ref: IRC6505

Role purpose

The water team in Poland is rapidly growing which has led to new opportunities. We are looking for a talented and dynamic individual to develop the water management and rapidly growing urban water management parts of our business within Poland.

The successful candidate will take a lead role in growing this part of our business leading the project teams in order to meet or exceed the Clients, Halcrow management and staff needs and expectations.

Essence of role – key accountabilities

The role of Project Manager is vital to the success of Halcrow and is an important role. On a commission, the Project manager is the person leading the project team drawing upon the companies 7000 global staff resources, as required, in order to meet or exceed the Client, Halcrow management and staff needs and expectations from that commission.

The Project Manager is the day-to-day manager of the Halcrow project and ensures that any problems encountered are quickly identified and adequately resolved.

Job requirements
Technical / professional expertise

The priorities of this role include:

  • Planning the project inputs and deliverables to meet the requirements of Halcrow and the Client understanding what is important for both parties
  • Assembling the Project team and incorporating the required degree of skill and care calling upon the 7000 global resource base as required.
  • Managing the project team, the Project Budget and interface with third parties
  • Managing change control within the Project risk level
  • Complying with Halcrow management requirements and applying best practice
  • Being aware of and acting on business opportunities when they arise on their project.
  • Seeking continual improvement and applying and/or adding to corporate knowledge

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge:

  • at least 10 year of professional experience, including 5 year on the position related to the project management
  • experience in managing wastewater infrastructural projects or water management projects
  • experience in the or wastewater management or water management consultancy
  • experience in the feasibility studies and EU funding applications
  • experience in the Tender Dossier preparation
  • managing a least one project related to the investment supervision co-financed with the European Union Funds
  • certification in accordance to the Polish Construction Law (and related legal articles) for design and/or supervision of the construction works without limitations
  • practical knowledge of the FIDIC Contract Conditions („red” and/or „yellow” book)

The candidate shall be characterised with communicativeness, good interpersonal skills, personable, diligence, openness and honesty, reliable and enthusiastic and ambitious.

  • higher educational background oriented on technical, economic or marketing
  • experience in managing large teams of experts
  • experience in infrastructural project management including the Project co-financed with European Union Funds
  • experience in the consultancy works
  • proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
  • fluent in English in speaking and writing
  • driving license “B” category
