Transport safety and risk manager, Sydney, Australia, ref: IRC6764
Role purpose
The sector currently includes a diversity of resources and product offerings covering Occupational Health and Safety Management, Operational Safety Management, Safety Risk, Commercial Risk and business Risk Management across a diverse range of markets including but not limited to Rail, Maritime, Security, and Highway markets.
The sector leverages significant value through use of resources external to the group in high margin consultancy areas. A key objective of this role is to further develop and enhance this position within the market.
Essence of role – key accountabilities
- Assist with the annual development and review of the 3 year strategic business plan and objectives including:
- market analysis
- market servicing
- resource identification
- Review the progress of each project with the Project Manager to ensure that project deliverables are issued on time and in accordance with the project brief
- Authorise tenders for new business within the delegated authorities set and in accordance with HIMS.
- Lead the decision making process in relation to Halcrow’s capability to bid on potential tenders and to deliver proposal requirements
- Act as Project Director or Project Manager as required in compliance with business systems
- Compliance with company Human Resources
- Compliance and Administration policies

Technical / professional expertise
- Attraction and retention of appropriately skills and qualified staff
- Expansion and development of the brand in the market place
- Excellent project management skills and a proven track record in successful project delivery
- A good understanding of the Australian market or the ability to gain it very quickly
- practical experience in an appropriate role or a degree or equivalent qualification in Safety or Risk Management .
