Role purpose

Halcrow Pakistan assists Halcrow Group’s offices worldwide in carrying out design & drafting services. These include the Property Business Group in Halcrow’s Dubai office which currently employs approximately 100 plus multi-disciplined engineers.

The successful candidate will enjoy a high profile role within the Halcrow Pakistan team and will play a vital role in developing the business through excellent engineering skills.  Halcrow has ambitious targets and we need only the best quality people to help us achieve these goals.

Essence of role – key accountabilities

The principal function of this position is to:

To lead a design team and design all mechanical services(HVAC, Public Health, Fire fighting, LPG, etc.) for all projects

The priorities of this role include:

  • carryout design of HVAC services (Air-Conditioning, Public Health, Domestic water, fire protection, LPG etc.) concept, preliminary and detail design to ASHRAE Standards and Dubai Municipality / Civil Defence regulations.
  • coordinate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers and any other external design consultants
  • coordinate with, instruct, and supervise assistant engineers and Auto Cad Technicians
  • carry out arithmetical checks and independent design checks of other Engineers’ design and design reviews
  • to instruct CAD technicians in all project related matters
  • to understand and implement QA procedures and advise engineers/technicians
  • responsible for the checking of CAD works done under his supervision

Job requirements
Technical / professional expertise

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge. These points should align with the key areas of responsibility:

  • have a proven track record in high quality HVAC design projects
  • have a proven track record working with high profile consulting / architectural practices and Blue Chip clients for at least 15 years. Candidates having experience of working in the Middle East and familiar with design standards followed in Dubai (ASHRAE Standards and Dubai Municipality / Civil Defence regulations) will be preferred
  • be conversant with current good design practice and design methods
  • being able to meet the delivery dates
  • an excellent communicator in written and spoken format
  • be a team player able to motivate people and inspire confidence within the team
  • have a desire to produce the highest quality work and set standards for the industry
  • be generally familiar and conversant with the requirements for LEED certification
  • experience in major projects of high towers (50 storeys or more), hotels, etc.
  • be conversant with mechanical & HVAC software packages such as Carrier, HEVACOP, etc.
