Chief resident engineer / resident engineer, maritime, Bandar Abbas, Iran

Halcrow is contracted by the Ports & Shipping Organization to supervise construction of Shahid Rajaee Port Complex Development, Basins 2 and 3. This includes two EPC contracts for a new container terminal; the first is partly taken-over and second started more recently.

The scope includes dredging, reclamation, paving, quay wall construction, buildings and services, as well as major port equipment supply.

Key role objective

The principal function of this position is to:

  • supervise EPC contracts
  • undertake delegated powers and duties

Key areas of responsibility

The priorities of this role include administration of the construction contracts, and maintaining relationships with related organisations, including:

  • administration the of construction contracts
  • active monitoring of construction quality standards and progress
  • preparation of reports for Halcrow and the Client
  • management of the foreign and local sub-consultants team
  • liaison with Client Site representatives
  • liaison with local sub-consultant(s)
  • making presentations to VIP Client / Government representatives
  • Reporting to the Halcrow Project Manager in Dubai

Key requirements

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge.

  • Previous Site supervision experience at CRE or other senior level involving related maritime construction activities
  • Able to work with Client in complex organisational relationship, involving influential local main contractor and foreign subcontractors.
  • Substantial experience of construction of related major port facilities
  • Previous work in Middle East or other relevant overseas locations
  • Fluent in English language.

Minimum qualifications

Degree in civil engineering or relevant subject at internationally recognised institution; Member of relevant professional organisation preferred.
