M and E piping site engineer, Jebel Ali, UAE - ref: S12054

Project / business overview

This position will be part of an integrated construction management team overseeing the procurement and construction of the Dubai LNG Project in Jebel Ali Port.

This project includes a natural gas receiving jetty and submarine pipeline to furnish gas to the Dubai Supply Authority and local power plant and gas consumers.

Key role objective

The principal function of this position is to oversee and direct the prime contractors piping and mechanical procurement, fabrication and construction activities.

The RE would report to the Construction/Project Manager.

Key areas of responsibility

The priorities of this role include:

  • Safety during construction
  • Achieving the project schedule
  • Finishing below the project cost budget
  • Achieving a successful startup and plant operation.

The scope to be covered by the Site Engineer include:

  • Loading Arms
  • High Pressure Gas Process Piping & Valves
  • Pig receiver
  • Pipeline riser section
  • Horizontally directionally drilled subsea pipeline
  • Onshore tie-ins
  • Electrical Lights and instrument cabling to/from FSRU

The RE responsibiliies include::

  • Oversight of Prime Contractor’s staff, equipment and materials
  • Reporting progress to Construction manager
  • Be a active integral member of the owner’s construction mgmt team
Reviewing and managing change orders and schedule variations

Key requirements

The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge. These points should align with the key areas of responsibility:

  • Organization and Planning
  • Effective Communications
  • Project Management
  • Knowledge of Mechanical and Piping and Welding Procedures and QA/QC
  • Knowledge of Electrical systems and cabling

Minimum qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • 5-15 years relevant mechanical & piping site  work experience
  • Relevant experience with electrical systems and cabling
  • Experience with Marine projects
