Halcrow success at the Education Awards 2008

On 3 April, Halcrow was named runner up for the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Excellent Engineers Working in Education Award 2008 for the London region.

The awards promote and encourage the valuable experiences which engineers offer those of the future, and highlight those companies that are striving to promote engineering within the education environment, including schools, colleges and universities.

Halcrow's Roland Grzybek and Laura Markeson accepted the award at the joint annual dinner in London. Roland said: "Halcrow's purpose of sustaining and improving the quality of people's lives is exemplified in the work of our young engineers, assisting the students from our selected schools in undertaking real projects."

Competition against the other 12 company submissions was fierce. The judges praised Halcrow for promoting engineering within the education environment, through the Engineering Education Scheme, Go4Set, and industry days in London and across the UK.

Halcrow’s UK South regional managing director William Hickey, said: "It was a real joy to witness the Halcrow team pick up this excellent award on behalf of young Halcrow engineers. The application was put together by Laura Markeson using the principles of better bidding, and she was justly rewarded for her effort and commitment to promoting young engineers, and the value they add to the company."
