Halcrow highly commended by the BCCB
Halcrow’s RIG (Recovery and Infrastructure Group) team were highly commended by the BCCB (British Consultants and Construction Bureau) at their annual awards lunch in London, this November.
The RIG team completed the refurbishment of 49 public buildings and amenities in Basrah, Iraq, for the Department for International Development (DFID). The project ran from July 2003 to June 2004 and included the refurbishment of orphanages, colleges, hospitals, food distribution centres, fire stations and government buildings. Approximately 1,500 Basrah-based Iraqis were employed to assist with this project. Dick Trimble, RIG team leader, was presented with the award by His Royal Highness, the Duke of Gloucester.
The BCCB is an independent, non-profit association, with strong political and commercial links globally. It regularly liaises with foreign governments and the private sector to identify commercial opportunities for its members.
Tony Allum, Halcrow’s chairman, commented, “This is an excellent example of Halcrow’s commitment to sustain and improve the quality of people lives. I was very proud that Halcrow received this commendation and it was well deserved.”
