Broadland Flood Alleviation project goes online

The Broadland Flood Alleviation Project is a long-term project to provide a range of flood defence improvements, maintenance and emergency response services within the tidal areas of the Rivers Yare, Bure, Waveney and their tributaries in the UK.

Broadland Environmental Services Ltd, a joint venture between consultant Halcrow and contractor Nutall, has been appointed by the Environment Agency to deliver these services and, in partnership with the Agency, it is now implementing the 20-year programme of works.

This contract was awarded in May 2001 as a Public Private Partnership Programme, and is the first of its kind to provide flood defences on this scale.

The dedicated website www.bfap.org was launched this week.

The new website contacts information regarding the maintenance and improvement of the flood defences in the Broads.

You can find details of the work that is being carried out and the great lengths that we go to ensure that the environment is not just undamaged, but enhanced wherever possible.

You will also be able to use the site to access the latest consultation documents and fill in questionnaires on line if you wish.

The site will be developed over the coming months and will be updated regularly to report progress.
