Halcrow wins Auckland extension
Engineering consultancy, Halcrow, has won an Auckland Regional Transport
Authority (ARTA) extension to continue as rolling stock technical advisor
to the Auckland rail project for a further three years.
Initially commissioned as technical advisor in July 2002, Halcrow will
continue to support the projects that will update the current passenger
rolling stock and will also look at the replacement of the elderly interim
vehicles with new trains and carriages. Halcrow have already been instrumental
in delivering refurbished DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) cars and new locomotive
hauled passenger carriages.
The new and refurbished rolling stock will not only provide extra capacity
on the network but a pleasant, safe and comfortable environment for passengers.
“We came up against stiff competition to win this project” said
Graham Holden, Rail Manager. He went on to describe Halcrow’s experience
in rolling stock as “second to none” and concluded, “It’s
fantastic to have the opportunity to contribute further to this project
and see Auckland’s new rail network take shape”.
