Halcrow buys latest airport simulation software

Halcrow’s airport team has enhanced its simulation capabilities by choosing ARCport terminal simulation software. This latest move places Halcrow at the forefront of terminal simulation and provides a range of benefits to the company’s global clients. Halcrow is the first consultant to acquire this software in the UK.

Developed in the US by Aviation Research Corporation, the software provides Halcrow with the ability to construct powerful models of airport infrastructure and simulate the movement of passengers and baggage. Its key features are:

  • the simulation of all elements within the airport terminal environment providing immediate visual results with further in-depth analyses through its built-in reporting tools
  • efficient optimisation of designs prior to implementation
  • complex passenger and baggage flows can be easily represented and visualised using three-dimensional animation
  • three-dimensional animation can be recorded for future use.

As well as terminal simulation, ARCport ALT can be used to focus independently on specific areas such as the gate assignment process and baggage handling systems.
The key to its success though, is its impressive visualisation and reporting facilities which can be tailored to the objectives of the study. Three-dimensional animations can show both the terminal in overview and specific detail. Video can provide walkthroughs or flyovers from different perspectives. This feature of the software provides compelling results, useful for informing both expert and non-expert opinion.
