Dam engineering

Halcrow has collective experience of dam engineering extending over 100 years and is recognised worldwide as a leader in the fields of dam and reservoir engineering. Dams designed by Halcrow have been for hydroelectric power, irrigation, water supply, flood control and/or detention, groundwater recharge, pumped storage and a combination of these uses for multi-purpose schemes. Halcrow have also been involved in the design of barrages in the tidal waters of river estuaries.

Related expertise has been developed in the areas of reservoir inspection and monitoring, remedial works and heightening of existing dams.

Halcrow have proven capabilities in all aspects of
dam engineering and has experience in the development of a diversity of sites and the construction of dams of different types worldwide.

In the past 12 years we have worked on 75 dam and hydro projects in over 25 countries. Additionally, Halcrow has undertaken major flood protection projects internationally, in countries including Argentina and Bangladesh.

Halcrow's dams and reservoir specialists are skilled in the design and construction supervision of most types of dams, including concrete-faced rockfill dams (CFRD) and roller compacted concrete (RCC) dams.
