Halcrow is one of the leading firms of consultants in environmental planning and impact assessment. Since 1964, we have provided independent advice and professional judgement to planning and transport authorities in many countries. Halcrow has worked for all levels of central and local government in the United Kingdom as well as most of the development agencies and research organisations. It has also worked for industrial, commercial and financial institutions, private developers and contractors.

The structure of each environmental assessment is tailored to the needs of a particular project and covers the full range of impacts likely to result from the development. We are at the forefront of research and development for environmental assessment techniques, in particular for traffic and transport-related impacts. We have in-house expertise in the assessment of specialist topic areas including noise, air quality, landscape, townscape, ecology, water quality, heritage and archaeology, contaminated land, construction impacts and effects on pedestrians and cyclists. We are registered assessors of the Institute of Environmental Management Assessment (IEMA) and sit on the Institute's Working Parties on Traffic Impacts, Ecology and Environmental Auditing.
