Gravity and pumped systems

Many water systems operate with a combination of gravity fed and pumped supplies and, in some cases, both types on the same main.
It is also common to be able to supply an area from more than one source to cope with a range of operational circumstances, such as high demand conditions.

Halcrow has experience of assessing such systems using network models to review current operational practice and to determine robust least-cost operational regimes in which pumping energy costs are kept as low as practicable to cope with particular scenarios.
