Water distribution networks

Risk analysis

Halcrow has undertaken risk analyses for major assets including raw water mains, distribution systems and trunk mains.

By their nature such structures have the potential to cause loss, damage or injury should they fail.

A risk analysis can demonstrate that uncertainties have been assessed, that appropriate measures have been taken to control risk and that there is sufficient economic return for accepting the residual risk.

Halcrow has used network models to identify the impact on consumers of sudden failures in the distribution system.

When combined with the actual likelihood of such events, this provides an effective measurement of the magnitude of the risk of failure.
