Quality assurance and the business system

Halcrow seeks to provide services that effectively meet the requirements of its clients in a highly professional manner.

This is applied to all commissions through the implementation of the Halcrow Business System, which is designed to meet in an integrated manner the requirements of relevant standards, in particular BS EN ISO 9001, BS EN ISO 14001 and BS 8800 and Halcrow’ corporate management.

The objective is to ensure that we achieve the agreed requirements, apply best practice, incorporate the required degree of skill and care and comply with all applicable statutes and regulations.

Quality assurance

Halcrow has developed and established effective procedures to manage business systems. All commissions undertaken by Halcrow are controlled in accordance with a Quality Assurance System, meeting the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001 (2000).

It has been fully assessed to comply with the ISO 9001 standard by the British Standards Institute (BSI), a UKAS Accredited Body.

Health and safety

Halcrow is committed to meeting its health and safety responsibilities to its employees, its clients and the wider public.

We seek to minimise the health and safety risks for all employees whilst at work and for all other people arising out of our work.

In particular, we are committed to ensuring that construction works emanating from studies or designs prepared by us can be built, properly used and maintained in a safe manner and without undue risk.

Environment

As part of two major groups providing both utility services and consultancy services, we seek to achieve our business objectives in a manner that causes least harm to the environment and, as far as is reasonably practicable, achieves environmental benefits.

Staff involvement

All staff are required to comply with, play an active role in and continually improve the effectiveness of the Halcrow Business System.

Appropriate information and training is provided to enable staff to apply the measures set out in the Halcrow Business System. Specialist advice is available when required. Compliance is regularly monitored and action taken to address any shortcomings. Business objectives are set and regularly reviewed.
