Wastewater treatment

The Halcrow process group offers a range of consultancy services relating to the provision of new waste water treatment infrastructure and the enhancement of existing waste water treatment plants.

For New infrastructure we offer the following services: 

	Expert advice to Investors.
	Outline design and optioneering including determination of process flow, mass balance, general arrangement, power requirement, operational and outline capital costs for different processes.
	Feasibility and strategy - this involves undertaking a feasibility study of required options such as site location, disposal routes including reuse applications.
	Costing, financial planning to include sensitivity analysis to consumables (e.g. gas and electricity or chemicals).
	Project risk assessment for due diligence reports including the identification of 'pinch points' or elements which would prevent the successful operation/implementation of the plant.
	Detail design and/or preparation or general and particular specifications for contract and take-over and performance testing.
	Full risk assessments associated with the safety of sites or design which can include hazard and operability studies, hazardous area classification, DSEAR compliance.

For existing plants we offer the following services:

	Optimisation to improve efficiency/sustainability of unit processes. Process specialists work closely with our MEICA team to optimise energy and chemical consumption.
	A complete audit of a treatment works and associated documents in order to provide evidence that the plant has been designed and/or performing to its purpose.
	Benchmarking treatment works processes against similar works processes world-wide for direct comparison. This can include efficiencies, operational and capital costs.
	Detailed specialist investigations including odour analysis, wastewater characterisation, seawater infiltration, septicity, mixing, noise, aeration alpha and KLa testing.
	The by-products of sewage treatment always need due consideration and Halcrow has identified cost effective sludge treatment processes.
