Halcrow staff in the Marine structures are primarily involved in the design of waterfront and deep water ports for various types of marine facilities and terminals including: container, liquid bulk, dry bulk, general cargo, military, urban waterfront, cruise, Ro Ro, and shipyards. Projects which the group undertakes include screening studies, conceptual design, FEED (front end engineering), detailed design, and repair and rehabilitation.

The group includes many of the disciplines required to perform the designs, including civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, and corrosion protection. We are also involved in providing resident engineering and construction management services for projects.

Halcrow staff in the Ports & Terminals group cover all aspects of port planning, terminal development and maritime infrastructure requirements for deep-water and commercial ports, naval facilities, small fishing harbours, and recreational marinas and small-craft harbours. This capability encompasses involvement in the various phases/stages of a project including master planning, feasibility studies, privatisation and due diligence studies, port operation and navigation simulation studies, detailed design, construction supervision and project management.

Utilising the skills and experience of engineers from a range of different backgrounds including specialist port and terminal planners, civil works experts, and port operations simulation (and mathematical) modellers, the Ports & Terminals skill group is able to provide capability across the major areas of the maritime field.

The Marine structures and Port Panning groups works closely with the Engineering divers and Coastal skill groups to insure that the complete range of disciplines is available to carry out maritime projects.
