Halcrow has been involved in the design of complex multi disciplinary nuclear related projects for over two decades. During this period, Halcrow has developed a comprehensive suite of management tools, procedures and techniques all designed to assist in the delivery of the project.

Project management is integrated into all our services and is also provided as a stand-alone service. Our key objectives are to manage projects to the requisite quality standards, to programme and to budget by the use of industry standard tools and systems, applied in a collaborative and goal focussed environment. We support clients through the full project lifecycle and because of our knowledge of the industry with its unique safety and engineering requirements; we integrate this service more effectively than providers from outside the industry.

Case study

Hinkley Point 'A' ILW store

The Hinkley Point 'A' nuclear power station was shut down in May 2000. The intermediate level waste (ILW) store will contain intermediate level waste arising from the operation and decommissioning of the station.

Halcrow is providing civil / structural and building services consultancy services to the Alliance formed by British Nuclear Group, Halcrow, Weir Strachan & Henshaw and Nuttall to deliver the new facility to the Client, Magnox Electric, in early 2008. Design co-ordination, across the design teams based in three Halcrow offices and with the Crane designer, Weir Strachan and Henshaw, has been a challenge very successfully met during the design period. Significant interfacing with civil contractor, Nuttall, has also been incorporated during the design development ensuring high levels of buildability and a cost effective design.
