BMS Evaluation and Tuning Audit (BETA) Service

Halcrow's BMS Evaluation and Tuning Audit (BETA) Service allows end users of building management systems the option of an impartial professional review in order to maximise the energy saving potential of their BMS.
Most industry professionals recognise the benefits of BMS in maintaining comfortable working conditions whilst ensuring the associated HVAC plant is operated efficiently.
The power of modern BMS has raised the expectations of end users with many seeing them as the panacea for complex environmental control systems. Recent advances in BMS technology have aided the efficient running of buildings but this is by no means guaranteed with many BMS under performing.
Our experience indicates that many buildings are being controlled according to control programmes and parameters determined during the typically hectic and short commissioning period of a building project. Subsequent changes in building layout, building operation and plant performance to name a few means that the end product is a BMS that either does not work effectively or is not used to its full capabilities.
The BETA service employs a holistic approach to energy savings focussing on improving system performance and consequently reducing energy consumption. Fundamental to the success of the service is the knowledge and experience gained by building operators which in conjunction with the skill of our trained energy specialists can be used to identify system improvements which are relevant to the current needs of the building occupants. The BETA service is viable from the largest multi-outstation systems to single outstation systems.
With the continuing focus on energy consumption (being heightened by the Climate Change Levy), significant and readily achievable reductions in energy consumption can be targeted by implementing this BETA service.
