Careers

working with water management software
Water Management (WM) skill group comprises 135 staff based in 14 offices throughout the UK and overseas. Halcrow has a reputation as a leader in this sector, founded on highly qualified staff working within a corporate structure that over many years has encouraged and developed these skills.
The nature and extent of WM skills is evolving rapidly and a key to this objective has been a comprehensive and detailed training and knowledge management programme with highly developed networking between staff throughout the group. Also underpinning Halcrow's high profile in this area is active software development.
Principal areas of activities include:
Hydraulic Modelling (free surface) 1D, 2D and 3D river, open channel, floodplain and overland flow modelling, sediment transport and geomorphological modelling and water quality modelling.
Hydrology; the occurrence and movement of water in the environment; the science which underpins engineering studies of flood risk and water resources. Halcrow hydrologists are practitioners of the science; they contribute to projects involving the estimation and control of floods and water resources in the UK and overseas. |
Hydraulic Modelling (pipes and mixed systems) Pipes and mixed systems covering the computational modelling of mixed pressurised and open channel systems and networks such as water and wastewater treatment works, transfer mains and pump stations and includes the modelling of pressure transients and control systems. |
Water Resources / river basin planning;
Planning and management of water quantity and water quality, groundwater hydrology, analysis of yield, water demand and contaminant transport, options appraisal and evaluation in relation to environmental water resource assessments. Also involving development of data collection protocols and data processing through use of state-of-the art mathematical models |
