Balmore Treatment Works is one of the largest water treatment works in the UK. Halcrow were commissioned to plan, design, engineer and procure a new 364Ml/d treatment facility with provision for future expansion to 455Ml/d. Balmore Treatment Works is a major element of the Loch Lomond Water Supply Scheme, serving the central belt of Scotland.

scope

Civil, structural, hydraulic and MEICA design, procurement and project management for a £50 million water treatment works, including design development with plant and civil contractors. The works included the construction of two new service reservoirs to supplement the raw and treated water storage at the site, and a 364Ml/d rated low lift pumping station.

Halcrow were able to provide design services across the full range of disciplines, including planning and environmental support to enable delivery of this major new component of the Loch Lomond Scheme within a live treatment works site.
